Rafa Benitez expects Harry Kewell to make a playing return in a fortnight's time.Rafa Benitez expects Liverpool attacker Harry Kewell to make a playing return in a fortnight's time.
Kewell has not played for Liverpool since limping out of the UEFA Champions League final triumph over Milan with a groin injury.
On the comeback trail in pre-season, the Australia international broke down again and required a hernia operation.
The surgery has kept him on the sidelines since mid-July but Reds boss Benitez feels Kewell is close to a return to action.
The 26-year-old is training again and Benitez has pencilled in a reserve team run-out in the next two weeks.
If Kewell comes through that game unscathed, he could then be in contention for a first team comeback against Blackburn Rovers on October 15.
Benitez said: "He is training and playing football now.
"In two weeks he will play for the reserves."
