Guus Hiddink is confident Harry Kewell will be available for Australia next monthAustralia manager Guus Hiddink is confident Harry Kewell will be available for next month's World Cup play-off.
The Socceroos will take on an as yet unknown South American side over two legs for a place at next summer's finals in Germany.
Kewell has been plagued with injury over the last 12 months, but is close to a return and Hiddink feels he has a strong chance of aiding his country next month.
Australia thrashed Jamaica in a friendly on Sunday, with Liverpool winger Kewell an interested spectator at Craven Cottage after working under Hiddink's gaze in the past week.
"Harry was working very well this week and I think, for him, it's very important," said Hiddink.
"We will help him, and so too will his club, to make him a good programme so that he can improve his physical fitness and then he will be ready for Australia and also for Liverpool in a few weeks - that's what I hope.
"It's not very long but if he retains the rhythm of this week in his preparation and his treatment, and also training, then five weeks should be sufficient for him.
"Maybe not for him to play a full game but at least part of the game."
