Rafa Benitez is confident that Harry Kewell will rediscover his best form this season.Rafa Benitez has backed Harry Kewell to rediscover his form and inspire Liverpool to success this season.
The Reds could climb up to fourth in The Premiership if they beat Sunderland on Wednesday, and Benitez believes they will go from strength to strength if the Australian returns to his dazzling best.
Kewell has only made two starts this year, and has been plagued by injuries for the whole of his Anfield career.
"If he plays every week for two or three months then he could make the difference for us," said the coach.
"Harry is very talented and he is definitely fitter now, but you need to play games to get there totally. In training he is very focused and you can see he is enjoying his situation again."
The 27-year-old will be hoping to feature for his country in the World Cup next summer, and Benitez is sure that this will provide an added incentive for him to get back to full fitness.
"I think we will see the best of Harry Kewell this year, particularly with the World Cup to come," he hoped.
"He needs to play well because national managers will be watching.
"Harry is a professional and you have to do your job for the thousands who watch us, as well as for yourself.
"The World Cup will be a distraction at the end of the season, but at the moment it should prove a positive for us."
