Marseille sports director Jose Anigo has confirmed several of the club's targets.Marseille sports director Jose Anigo has confirmed several of the club's January transfer targets.
With the French giants struggling to find any kind of consistent form, a new year's spending spree has been sanctioned by the club's board.
Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse remains their number one target but both the player's price and his desire to stay on Merseyside will likely prohibit any deal from being struck.
With this in mind, Anigo is ready to focus his sights elsewhere - with Valencia striker Patrick Kluivert a possible solution, along with Barcelona's Maxi Lopez.
Marco Di Vaio, despite seemingly being bound for Monaco, remains a player on their wish-list as confirmed by Anigo.
''We are following Cisse,'' said Anigo. ''As we are also following Kluivert, Di Vaio and Maxi Lopez.''
Marseille will be desperate to bring in the right calibre of player in January, with Anigo admitting their summer purchases were far from fruitful.
The club's two major signings, Christian Gimenez and Andres Mendoza, have both failed to live up to expectations this season.
''The other clubs know failures. When we hired those players, we had no other choice,'' he continued.
''We know the rules from the start. If we sell we can buy, if we can't sell we can't buy.''
