Espanyol youngster Jonathan Soriano has finally completed his loan move to Almeria.Espanyol youngster Jonathan Soriano has finally completed his loan move to Segunda outfit Almeria.
The promising 20-year-old became embroiled in something of a transfer wrangle over the last few days after making it clear he wanted to leave Espanyol to further his progress.
Almeria are long-term admirers of his talents and were willing to pay é¼2 million (£1.3 million) to secure him on a permanent transfer.
However, Espanyol see him as a star of the future and insisted he would only be moving on loan until the end of the season.
Segunda rivals Nastic also wanted the player and were left incensed that they had missed out on him after apparently being promised by an Espanyol official that they had first refusal should he move.
To complicate matters further it was also suggested in some quarters that Liverpool had entered the race at the last minute with Rafa Benitez supposedly keen to take him to Anfield.
That interest never materialised and in the end Soriano's desire to join Almeria over Nastic saw him make the switch to Estadio Mediterraneo.
He becomes the second player to join Almeria from Espanyol during the January transfer window with Toni Velamazan also having made the move earlier in the week.
