Liverpool's Mark Gonzalez has explained why he joined Real Sociedad on loan.Liverpool's Mark Gonzalez has explained he joined Real Sociedad on loan following a fresh setback in his bid to be granted a work permit.
Gonzalez joined The Reds last summer from Albacete but red tape has delayed his debut for the European champions.
The winger has now opted to shun offers from Espanyol and Deportivo La Coruna in order to play regular football with Sociedad until the end of the season.
"Everything has been agreed and signed," said the player's agent Cristian Ogalde.
"Mark passed his medical exams with no problems so we agreed with Real Sociedad until June 30.
"We held talks with Espanyol and Deportivo La Coruna but after speaking with Liverpool we decided to join Real Sociedad because their offer impressed us."
Gonzalez is looking forward to life in San Sebastian despite the club's disappointing start to the Liga campaign that saw Jose Mari Amorrortu sacked on Monday.
"I've come to San Sebastian because it is a city I like very much," Gonzalez told La Tercera.
"I have big expectations and I am going to work very hard to help Real Sociedad to improve their position in La Liga."
Gonzalez has been joined at Sociedad by John Viafara, who has signed a loan deal until the end of the season after failing to cut the mustard at Portsmouth.
