Feyenoord have played down an interest in Dejan Stefanovic and Kiki Musampa as the Dutch club look for reinforcements.
Following the departures of several players in recent months, most notably Salomon Kalou to Chelsea, coach Erwin Koeman is eager to bring in new recruits.
Reports had linked the Dutch giants with a swoop for Portsmouth defender Stefanovic and Atletico Madrid midfielder Musampa, who has been on loan at Manchester City.
The Rotterdam-based outfit have denied holding an interest in the duo, while they missed out to Stuttgart for Swedish midfielder Alexander Farnerud.
The priority for Feyenoord, though, is to bring in Dutch players or footballers who can speak the native tongue.
Feyenoord's technical advisor Wim Jansen has spent several months scouting potential signings, with the brief of finding players in the Dutch mould.
This has brought Scandinavian and Belgian-based footballers into the equation, with Feyenoord feeling they have a similar mentality to Dutch players.
Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has also been linked with a return to De Kuip, although Feyenoord lack the funds to re-sign the Pole.
