Hammers ready Yossi deal

Skysports.com understand West Ham are ready to offer Yossi Benayoun a new deal.

Skysports.com understand West Ham are ready to offer Yossi Benayoun a new improved deal to ward off potential suitors of the player.

Liverpool and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the tricky winger after his fine performances last season.

Benayoun enjoyed a superb debut season with The Hammers last term, helping them reach the FA Cup final, and his showings have not gone unnoticed by England's top sides.

The 26-year-old's agent Ronen Katzav admitted there was interest in Benayoun, but revealed West Ham are planning to extend his contract to keep him at Upton Park.

"All the time there is interest, but no one has called me," Katzav told skysports.com.

"Yossi has a contract with West Ham and he is happy at West Ham.

"I know there a few clubs that like Yossi, but liking a player and signing one is two totally different things.

"West Ham would fight to keep him if any club came in for him and I have talks planned with [managing director] Paul Aldridge about a new improved contract.

"Yossi has three years to run on his contract and I think West Ham are ready to offer him an improved deal for five years."
