Steven Gerrard or Boudewijn Zenden will play in central midfield against Arsenal.
Rafa Benitez will choose between Steven Gerrard or Boudewijn Zenden to play in central midfield against Arsenal.
An injury to Mohamed Sissoko has left Liverpool shorn of a regular central midfielder for Sunday's trip to Emirates Stadium, live on Sky Sports 1.
Benitez is considering two options to partner Xabi Alonso in the capital, with Gerrard or Zenden in contention.
Reds captain Gerrard has spent much of the season on the right, while Zenden has been in and out of the side.
"We have Zenden and also Steve with Xabi," Benitez told Sky Sports News.
"People will see now that we have two or three months thinking about the best couple."
The Liverpool boss also expressed his sympathy for Sissoko, who is out for three months after dislocating his shoulder against Birmingham in the Carling Cup.
The Mali international also missed a chunk of last season with an eye complaint and Benitez feels the midfielder is suffering from misfortune.
He added: "Momo, you know, he will have an operation and he will be out for three months if everything's okay.
"Watching the video, it's really bad luck. He fell down in a bad position, it wasn't a bad tackle or anything like that.
"He's okay now. He knows you cannot change the situation, it's just really bad luck.
"He had the problem with his eye and now this problem with his shoulder. He knows now to think positive and about the future."
