Djibril Cisse claimed it was a dream come true to play for Marseille as he inspired the Ligue 1 side to victory in his long-awaited return from injury.
France forward Cisse, who is on a season-long loan to Marseille from Liverpool, made his competitive return from a broken leg sustained prior to the World Cup in L'OM's much-needed win over Monaco.
Cisse was the architect of the winning goal on Saturday, setting up Mamadou Niang 13 minutes from time.
"I am very happy, I thought I was only going to get 15 to 20 minutes," the former Auxerre front-man said.
"It is a dream come true to play for Marseille. I played in front of my mother, my wife, my friends. It still isn't the Djibril Cisse that we all know, but it is satisfying.
"I received a great welcome from the exceptional fans. I was like a little boy starting at a new club."
Cisse's injured colleague Franck Ribery, meanwhile, is due to return to training by the end of this month.
Ribery has been ruled out since mid-November by a groin injury, but coach Albert Emon is hopeful of being able to call on the France international before long.
Emon said: "He is having medical care. He is getting better. He should be back by the end of the month, for the first training session scheduled on December 31."
