Alvaro Arbeloa feels Liverpool are firmly in the title hunt.
Alvaro Arbeloa claims he is relishing the prospect of helping Liverpool chase down Manchester United and Chelsea in the title race.
Spanish full-back Arbeloa made a deadline-day move from Deportivo La Coruna to Liverpool and he could be handed a baptism of fire in Saturday's home derby with Everton.
Liverpool have bounced back to form following their poor advent to the campaign and are now within 11 points of the leaders.
Catching The Red Devils is a major ask for The Reds, but Arbeloa is looking forward to the challenge.
"I have joined to try to become a key player and we are not that far behind Chelsea and Manchester United, so that is still possible this season, and I am not scared of the task ahead," said the 24-year-old.
"I will enjoy working with the great players in the Liverpool dressing room, and to learn from them.
"It is an important step in my career to come here, the players in Spain talk a lot about what they see of the English game on TV and the pace and skill shown.
"That is what I have to learn. The game is much faster than in Spain, and I am looking forward to coming to terms with that.
"I do not feel it will be too much of a problem. There is speed and also a more physical game, but maybe that will help me as a defender because more tackles are allowed here that would be penalised in Spain."
