Liverpool's teenage midfielder Danny Guthrie has joined Southampton on loan.
Liverpool's teenage midfielder Danny Guthrie has joined Southampton on loan for a month.
Guthrie has featured in the first-team setup at Anfield this season and has made seven appearances under Rafa Benitez.
He was also rewarded with a new two-and-a-half year contract in January, but will now spend four weeks at Southampton.
The 19-year-old could feature in Monday's Championship game with promotion rivals Preston North End and Saints boss George Burley was happy with the signing.
"He is an England Under 19 international and a talented player who has been involved with the Liverpool first team," Burley told the club's official website.
"So when it came to our attention that Liverpool were willing to loan him out to a Championship club we felt it was a great opportunity to bring him in, have a look and give him first-team experience.
"He is a creative player who is not afraid to get stuck in. He is young and hungry and this is an ideal chance for him to get experience in the Championship.
"It will freshen things up and give us extra options at a critical stage of the season and he will be in the squad for Monday's game."
