Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted hearing the news of his eight-match suspension for racially abusing Patrice Evra has been 'difficult and painful'.
The Uruguay international was found guilty of misconduct by the FA's Independent Regulatory Commission and hit with the significant sanction, while also being fined £40,000.
Suarez remains available to Kenny Dalglish's side until they reach a decision on whether to appeal against the punishment, which given their
immediate response appears inevitable.
The Reds have 14 days from receiving the written judgement to decide on their next course of action, and the club have already announced that they 'reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate'.
Manchester United defender Evra accused Suarez of racially abusing him during the Premier League clash between the two teams at Anfield in October and the FA found the striker guilty.
Liverpool continue to give the former Ajax man their full support and he will be available for selection for Wednesday night's Premier League clash at Wigan.
'We are all the same'
The £22.8million signing has thanked all those who have stood by him in recent weeks and has vowed not to let up on the field.
Suarez wrote on
Twitter: "Today is a very difficult and painful day for both me and my family.
"Thanks for all the support, I'll keep working!"
And he later added on his
official website: "I'm upset by the accusations of racism. I can only say that I have always respected and respect everybody.
"We are all the same.
"I go to the field with the maximum illusion of a little chid who enjoys what he does, not to create conflicts."
