The former Inter Milan midfielder has enjoyed a wonderful campaign for Liverpool, playing a pivotal role in their title tilt.
But Coutinho looks to have a battle on his hands to make it into Luiz Felipe Scolari's plans as he has never called him up during his time in charge.
Coutinho told Placar: "The Brazilian national team will always be one of my objectives, and I haven't given up of the World Cup yet."
Coutinho, who only has once cap which he won back in 2010 for his country, hopes Scolari has been keeping an eye on his form.
"I know our manager keeps an eye on everything that is going on, and I am doing my best to deserve a chance.
"Let's see what happens until the squad are called up. I still have the dream of playing the World Cup in Brazil."
Coutinho admits he is delighted with how he has settled into life at Liverpool.
"English football is very fast and attack-minded although marking is tight, so that suited well to how I like to play," he continued.
"Several factors [also helped]. But the most important of them is that I was received very well and that was very helpful."
