The Argentinian international is out of contract at Highbury and he was expected to head for French giants Paris Saint Germain, but the prospect of playing under his compatriot Hector Cuper next term seems to have swung things in Inter's favour.
"I must thank the president Massimo Moratti and Gabriele Oriali, who have offered me the possibility to play for Inter," said the versatile defender or midfielder.
"I hope that it is all concluded in a hurry and everything goes well.
"I have played in Argentina, Switzerland, Spain and England, and to have the possibility to arrive in Italy is indeed important.
"I do not want to say I am an Internazionale player, I cannot say. But to have played in so many championships gives me a sense of pride.
"Inter is a great club, known and appreciated all over the world. But I have still not got an agreement. It would be beautiful to sign.
"Javier Zanetti and I have played in the national team since 1994, and we have had some important experiences. We have played together in a three-man defence, I was more wide on the right and he was more advanced in the middle."
There has been some speculation that Vivas's arrival means that talented right wing back Zanetti will join Barcelona or Real Madrid, after long being coveted by the Liga giants.
However, Vivas is hopeful his international colleague will remain at Giuseppe Meazza.
