VIVAS SIGNS INTER CONTRACT

NELSON VIVAS has signed a two-year deal at Internazionale with a ringing endorsement from international colleague Javier Zanetti greeting his arrival at Giuseppe Meazza.

The rugged Arsenal man has decided to quit Highbury at the end of his contract and, despite interest from Paris Saint Germain, he was keen to try his luck in Serie A.

The official Inter website confirmed agreement has been reached on a contract with the 31-year-old, after he was impressed with Inter's offer and the city of Milan itself.

Lawyer Marcelo Open, the player's agent, sealed the deal with Inter's Gabriele Oriali.

Vivas also had lunch with his friend Zanetti, contradicting some rumours that he has been bought to replace the Real Madrid and Barcelona target.

"He is a fast defender," said Zanetti. "He is not very tall but he's a good header.

"When we play with Argentina, we are very good together.

"This agreement could really be a great deal for Inter."
