Notts County's Danny Allsopp, Martin Butler of Reading and Arsenal's French starlet Jeremie Aliadiere have emerged as the prime candidates.
24-year-old Allsopp, who picked up an injury on Saturday, has been prolific for County since joining from Manchester City and Kinnear feels the Melbourne-born marksman could do a job for The Hatters.
Butler has scored just twice in 24 appearances for Reading this term but has a proven track record in front of goal, while 19-year-old Aladiere is rated highly at Highbury but has the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and Francis Jeffers blocking his path.
Meanwhile, Town have two trialists under the microscope at present.
Frenchman Roger Padong, an attacking midfielder, and full back Duncan Jupp of Notts County will play in the Hatters' reserves and hope to impress Kinnear.
