Pleat rubbishes Seaman link

DAVID PLEAT has come out to categorically deny reports that Tottenham are interested in signing veteran Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman.

The Sun newspaper had suggested on Friday that Glenn Hoddle was lining up a shock swoop for the 39-year-old custodian who has yet to decide on his immediate future at Highbury.

Arsenal are keen for the former England international to stay on but in a player-coach capacity, while Seaman is believed to be looking to prolong his top-flight career for a further season.

But Spurs' director of football, Pleat has now dismissed talk that Arsenal's bitter North London rivals will provide the former QPR keeper with that platform.

"This report is totally without foundation. We have had no contact with anyone about Seaman," blasted Pleat.

Tottenham are on the look-out for a new goalkeeper, with Neil Sullivan set to quit the club this summer in search of regular first-team action after losing out to Kasey Keller in the battle for Spurs' number one jersey.

However, planetfootball.com understands that they are monitoring Arsenal's French reserve shot-stopper Guillaume Warmuz rather than team-mate Seaman.
