The French powerhouse had been out of action since late September prior to his substitute appearance at Dynamo Kiev in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Gunners chief Arsene Wenger threw Vieira on for the final half-hour in the hope of him turning the game around, but the tactician may now be regretting his actions.
Vieira aggravated his thigh injury in Ukraine and has been told he will have to spend an extended spell on the sidelines.
"Patrick has had a setback and he will be out again for a few weeks," Wenger told the club's website. "I was cautious with him because we took the needed time. But as well, maybe, we were a little bit optimistic with him given the situation.
"We don't know what is happening with his muscle but he is not right and it will be at least two more weeks.
"He definitely misses this weekend, there is no doubt about that."
Martin Keown is also expected to miss the next fortnight with his calf problem, but imposing Swiss youngster Philippe Senderos has returned to training after shaking off the effects of his back complaint.
