The 24-year-old became a national hero after scoring a goal in each leg of Latvia's 3-2 play-off success against Turkey.
Verpakovskis's goalscoring feats have now seen him linked with a move to England - again.
Wolves had the Latvian on trial during the summer and manager Dave Jones admitted recently that he was still interested.
However, Verpakovskis is now believed to be interesting Arsenal - who already have a Latvian on their book in the shape of Igors Stepanovs.
"I believe I could make a certain impact in the Premiership," said Verpakovskis.
Former Latvian coach Gary Johnson, now manager of Yeovil, is still acting as a consultant for the country and he revealed that The Gunners were looking at Verpakovskis..
"Arsenal watched Maris score in both play-off games and have invited him to London, he is a quality player," said Johnson.
