It was thought that Arsene Wenger might choose to recall the German from his stint at Loftus Road to fill in for the Cameroon international, but such a move has now been dismissed.
However, Wenger did reveal that Lauren has sustained a knee injury that would have ruled him out of The Gunners' forthcoming games - including the crucial UEFA Champions League trip to Internazionale - regardless of his four-game suspension.
"We will take the needed time with Lauren," Wenger told the club's official website.
"It will be around three or four weeks so he will not be playing at Inter Milan."
The North Londoners will also be without skipper Patrick Vieira and defender Martin Keown for the trip to Birmingham on Saturday through suspension - though both would have missed the game with injury problems.
Ray Parlour is also banned for the clash at St Andrews, while midfielder Gilberto Silva will not be risked after having played in Brazil's World Cup qualifier on Wednesday night.
"He (Gilberto) is coming back tomorrow (Friday)," continued Wenger.
"He played at midnight last night and he was on for the whole game.
"It would be too big a risk to play him."
