The much-vaunted capture from Servette has been plagued by fitness problems since arriving at Highbury and trying to make his mark in England.
Arsene Wenger has reacted to the news that Senderos has had an operation on a fractured bone in his foot, by admitting he will be missing the Swiss stopper for around three months.
"Philippe had surgery on Tuesday because he broke down again," the French boss told Arsenal's official website.
"The surgery has gone well, but you can say that his season is 90 percent over.
"It will be three months from now.
"You never know, he might play a few games but he will only be competitive again in May."
Senderos was courted by some of the top clubs in Europe after starring at youth level for Switzerland, but Wenger won the chase for his signature last year.
Meanwhile, Kanu will line up against Aston Villa on Sunday even though he is participating in the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
