Cambridge boss Herve Renard has fined two players for an on-field bust-up.Cambridge United manager Herve Renard has confirmed that Luke Guttridge and Daniel Webb have been disciplined following their on-field bust-up on Saturday.
The U's pair got into a shoving match during the club's 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town at The Abbey Stadium, as the duo had to be separated by team-mates.
Guttridge and Webb (pictured) were booked for the incident by the match referee and have since been fined by Renard for their indiscretions against The Shrews, with the duo releasing a statement of apology on Tuesday.
Renard hopes his players keep their passion geared towards the right places this season.
"I think it's enough for the first time, but now I hope it's finished for everybody and we prepare for the game against Southend on Saturday," Renard told the club's official website.
"Danny Webb has the character, and I think in football the character is necessary. I don't want only good boys!
"Sometimes, I think a lot of character is good, but respect the shirt of Cambridge United, respect the fans, respect the opposing team. But the character for the win."
Renard, meanwhile, has acknowledged to being in contact with Premiership sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, as he looks to sign a player on loan.
"I hope to bring a player in on loan, but at the moment we stay with the same squad," Renard added.
"I called Arsenal and I'm waiting for a call from Jacques Santini at Tottenham.
"With two or three problems, the squad is very short of numbers and we will have seven games in August."
