Scasny hails Arsenal side

Panathinaikos coach Zdenek Scasny is full of praise for Arsenal.

Panathinaikos coach Zdenek Scasny has praised Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday.

The Greek giants are currently struggling with injuries and Scasny predicts a difficult night against the team he ranks as the finest in Europe.

''My opinion of Arsenal is that they are the best team in Europe right now,'' conceded Scasny. ''It's very difficult for anyone to beat them.

''Sure, we have a very difficult task to play against this team and it becomes more difficult because we have many injury problems.

''They are unbeaten for so long but someone has to put an end to their record. Why not us?

''Panathinaikos, I think, are able to do this.

''If I have to say that they have a weakness I would say that they have it in their defence, because of their offensive play, but this doesn't mean that they don't have a good defence.''

Of concern to Panathinaikos is the fitness of German left-back Markus Munch (pictured), who is currently struggling with a calf strain.

Munch pulled up in Saturday's domestic clash with Aigalew and insists he will only play if passed fully fit.

''I feel pain. I want some time for rest but unfortunately, there is no time to do something like that,'' admitted Munch.

''I will try my best in order to be ready for the fight against Arsenal but I will not take the risk to play if I am not 100 percent ready.''

If Munch is forced to the sidelines then he will most likely be joined by Croatian midfielder Srdan Andric, who looks set to be out of action for the next six weeks.

The 24-year-old anchorman has suffered a fracture of his fibula and his possible replacement, Angelos Basinas, is also a doubt as he too was an absentee against Aigalew.
