Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the full extent of Gilberto's injury.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed the full extent of Gilberto Silva's injury absence and pencilled Sol Campbell in for a comeback against his former club Tottenham.
Brazilian star Gilberto is out until 2005 with a back problem that will keep him sidelined for three months while Campbell is struggling with a calf injury.
The prolonged absence of Gilberto will at least hand young Gunners like Cesc Fabregas and Mathieu Flamini the chance to press their claims.
"Gilberto will be out, I feel, for six weeks," stated Wenger. "And he will then need another six weeks.
"He will be about three months in total.
"Sol will certainly be out for this weekend [against Crystal Palace] and the earliest that he could play again is against Tottenham. What a coincidence!"
Campbell, of course, left Spurs in acrimonious circumstances when joining the North Londoners' fiercest rivals on a Bosman free transfer.
The imposing centre back is a doubt for England's friendly with Spain on November 17.
