Arsenal have offered Jose Antonio Reyes a contract extension at Highbury.Arsenal have shown their commitment to Jose Antonio Reyes by offering the striker a contract extension.
The player's agent, Jesus Rodriguez de Moya, confirmed an offer has been made to the former Sevilla player after meeting with Gunners vice-chairman David Dein in Spain this week.
The new deal would likely extend Reyes's Highbury contract until 2010, despite the hit-man having expressed previous desires to return to Spain.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but de Moya stated his delight that Arsenal want to keep the Spaniard for years to come.
"Reyes will have the last word, but he is happy in London now," said de Moya.
"We have not talked about Real Madrid because we have never received an offer from them."
Arsenal's interest in Sevilla players has seen them make a move for Brazilian striker Julio Baptista.
The striker's agent, Juan Figger, confirmed that The Gunners have expressed their interest in the former Sao Paulo player, with Dein thought to have it the main priority of his Spanish visit.
"The only English club who have openly said they want him is Arsenal," Figger said.
