Wenger still to decide on duo

Arsene Wenger admits he is still interested in Alexandre Song and Armand Traore.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed he is still very much interested in young duo Alexandre Song and Armand Traore.

Song, a defensive midfielder, is currently on trial with The Gunners and played in Wednesday night's 5-0 thumping of Austrian outfit SC Weiz.

The 17-year-old Cameroon international has been earmarked to help fill the void left by Patrick Vieira's recent departure to Juventus.

It is understood Wenger has set up a ‚é¼4 million deal for the Bastia starlet but is insisting on taking a close look at the player before pressing ahead.

Song did his chances of clinching a move no harm with a decent display in Austria but Wenger insisted he had still to make a decision on the teenager.

"Well he's a young boy, we want to see him for a week and then we'll decide what we do with him," the Frenchman told Sky Sports News after the win in Austria.

He went on to admit he was still trailing Traore but dismissed claims made last week that he had already tied up a deal for the Monaco starlet.

When quizzed about Traore, he continued: "That's a true story, it's not over yet but we have an interest in the young boy, yes."

The French outfit are understandably keen to hold on to the young prospect, but Wenger hinted he could still pull off a swoop ahead of the new season.
