Borussia Monchengladbach have offered starlet Marcell Jansen a two-year extension.Borussia Monchengladbach have offered promising defender Marcell Jansen a two-year contract extension.
The 19-year-old left back is currently contracted at the Borussia Park until June 2007, but the Foals would now like him to commit until 2009 after he attracted interest from both Arsenal and Real Madrid.
The impressive starlet first rose to prominence at the Fifa World Youth Championship in Holland over the summer and has since progressed to Jurgen Klinsmann's full national setup.
Jansen has established himself as a regular under the ex-striker, and impressive performances at the World Cup next summer could make it difficult for Gladbach to keep hold of him.
However, the Bundesliga side say they are keen to retain the starlet for a number of seasons yet.
"He should take his time to consider his options," said sport director Peter Pander. "But I would advise him to spend another three or four years in Gladbach before making his next career move."
