Arsenal forward Jose Antonio Reyes has only suffered a bruised rib and it is not fractured.Arsenal have received a welcome boost on the injury front after learning Jose Antonio Reyes has not fractured a rib.
The Spain international was forced off after just 15 minutes of The Gunners' UEFA Champions League clash with Sparta Prague on Tuesday evening.
His injury was the only sour note on a positive night for Arsenal, which saw Reyes' replacement Thierry Henry become the club's all-time record goalscorer.
The Gunners were worried that Reyes' injury could be serious enough to keep him on the sidelines for the next six weeks.
But X-rays have shown that the youngster has not fractured his rib and is merely suffering from bruising.
Though the forward is doubtful for the weekend's Premiership tussle with Manchester City, Reyes is only likely to be absent in the short term.
"Jose Antonio Reyes has not fractured his rib but has suffered bruising that makes him doubtful for the visit of Manchester City on Saturday," confirmed Arsenal's official website.
"The Arsenal striker left the field after 15 minutes at Sparta Prague last night in considerable pain after a heavy challenge.
"It was feared he had cracked a rib and would be sidelined for some time.
"However he underwent an X-ray which revealed only bruising. His absence is now expected to be short term."
