Ajax star Maxwell has confirmed that he will leave the Dutch outfit in the summer.Ajax star Maxwell has confirmed that he will not extend his deal with the Dutch outfit, meaning the current campaign will be his last at the Amsterdam ArenA.
The Brazilian left-back has been reluctant to sign a new contract at Ajax for some time, but has now set his departure in stone and will seek a Bosman move in the summer.
Maxwell will be free to discuss a transfer in January and has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A champions Juventus, although Premiership side Arsenal have also been mooted with an interest in the Dutch press.
Fabio Capello's Bianconeri have already attempted to engage Ajax in dialogue regarding their defender, and the Italians are now well-placed to land their man after he followed Hatem Trabelsi and Steven Pienaar in declaring he will leave Danny Blind's side in the summer.
Maxwell is currently recovering from a serious knee ligament injury, and after completing the season in Amsterdam it is believed he will pursue a move to Turin to join former team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Meanwhile, fellow Ajax defender John Heitinga has been identified as a potential target by AZ Alkmaar boss Louis van Gaal.
Alkmaar are trying hard to keep hold of their own talented stopper Ron Vlaar, but if the lure of the Ajax proves too strong for the 20-year-old van Gaal has revealed he will look to recruit Heitinga in return.
After a sensational rise in the early stages of his career Heitinga has stalled in recent times and is now struggling to make the starting line up for both his club and the Oranje Under-21 team.
