Jose Antonio Reyes' second half goal earned The Gunners a 1-0 win at The Valley after a previously miserable December.
The run of form has seen Arsenal lose any chance of making a title challenge, with Chelsea 20 points clear of their London rivals.
Though the title is a distant memory, Wenger was merely thankful his side regained the winning thread after accepting his players were a little nervous.
"It was a relief," conceded Wenger.
"We played against our nerves a bit as well today because you could see that when we could not take our chances early on it became a bit edgy, but we kept going and finally got the goal which gives us three big points."
Wenger was also happy that Reyes grabbed the winner, with the Spaniard not having scored in The Premiership since early September.
He added: "I feel he needed a goal.
"I feel he will be a tremendous player.
"He is a player who plays a lot on creative instinct and that can only be expressed with a lot of confidence."
