Marco Ne has admitted he was waiting in vain for Arsenal to make a bid for him.
Marco Ne has admitted he could not wait any longer for Arsenal to make their move for him.
The midfielder signed a three-year contract with Olympiakos that will commence on July 1 once the Jupiler League has come to an end.
Ne, who had a trial at Highbury last year, opted to link up with another former Gunners target in Yaya Toure in Greece rather than continue to hold out for a bid from Arsene Wenger.
Clearly, he is leaving Beveren in an attempt to further his career.
"I have had contacts with Arsenal," Ne told Protathilitis. "Wenger wanted me in London.
"I have been waiting for their offer for many weeks.
"I have been waiting and waiting and waiting, but they didn't contact me.
"I couldn't wait any more.
"Olympiakos offered me the chance to join a big European club and I accepted it," he stated.
"Olympiakos is a famous European club and their interest to sign me was a great honour.
"I spoke with Yaya Toure and he told me that everything is perfect at Olympiakos and in Greece.
"I am very happy with this transfer and I promise to try my best to help my new team reach their targets next season."
