David Beckham claims it would be a disaster if Real Madrid lost to Arsenal.
As preparation hots up for next week's UEFA Champions League action, David Beckham claims it would be a disaster if Real Madrid crashed out of the competition at the hands of Arsenal.
Beckham has already endured two trophy-less seasons since moving to the Spanish capital and defeat to Arsenal over two legs could prolong that agony for at least another season.
The England captain has revealed in the past how much he would relish turning out for Real against English opposition so the stakes could not be any higher for Beckham and Real.
"I can't imagine what it would be like to be in Madrid for three years without winning a trophy. It would be horrible," said Beckham.
"I've had a few disappointments here. If we lost to Arsenal it would be hard to take. We have to beat Arsenal - we need to win a big trophy.
"If we beat Arsenal anything can happen.
"We're up for this more than any other match and personally it means so much.
"I don't want to leave the club one day without winning anything."
Meanwhile, Real striker Julio Baptista, a former target for Arsenal, has turned up the heat on Tuesday's opponents by insisting he never had any intention of joining The Gunners.
Arsene Wenger was believed to be keen to land the then Sevilla striker last summer but the player revealed he had no hesitation to snub The Gunners in favour of a move to El Bernabeu.
"Nothing Arsenal said last summer interested me," claimed Baptista.
"I was grateful to them for the offer but it was always better for me to go to Madrid
"And for the time being I am not regretting it."
