Arsenal have made contact with Mickael Landreau, according to the keeper's agent.
Arsenal have made contact with Mickael Landreau, according to the Nantes keeper's agent.
Landreau is one of the most consistent keepers in Ligue 1, having risen through the ranks with Les Canaris.
The 26-year-old made his debut for Nantes back in 1996 and such is the regard in which he is held, he was made captain within a couple of years of his debut.
He has remained loyal to Nantes for a decade, having snubbed approaches from Italy, Spain and England, but it would appear that after ten years as the club's number one, he is ready for a new challenge.
There has been no official confirmation that Landreau will move on in the summer, but it would appear that interested parties are jockeying for position.
"For several reasons, Mickael Landreau has delayed his decision," the player's agent Alex Lablatiniere told But! "But the club will know his final choice later in March.
"Betis, Sevilla, PSG, Fiorentina, Arsenal and Internazionale, which wants him as number two, has contacted Mickael. But some of those clubs don't attract him."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been delighted with Jens Lehmann's efforts this term and has handed the German a new deal.
However, Lehmann is in the twilight of his career and Wenger could view Landreau as the ideal long-term replacement for his current number one and the capture of Landreau on a free transfer would certainly appeal.
