Prem eyes on Lens star

A trio of Premiership sides are believed to be keeping tabs on Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

A trio of Premiership sides are believed to be keeping tabs on Benoit Assou-Ekotto's situation at Lens.

Assou-Ekotto won many fans during Lens' fine season in Ligue 1, and it is believed that Arsenal, Bolton and Tottenham posted scouts to watch the Sang-et-Or on a number of occasions.

The reports on the 22-year-old have been positive and with Lens signing Gregory Vignal, they could be keen to cash in on Assou-Ekotto.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has never been afraid to take a chance on emerging talents, while Tottenham are looking to break into the top four and Bolton boss Sam Allardyce prides himself on his astute work in the transfer market.

French sources suggest Assou-Ekotto would adapt seamlessly to life in The Premiership and a decent bid could persuade Lens to release their rising star.

The full back may not be the only Lens player heading to England, as reports in France Football suggest Portsmouth are ready to step up their interest in impressive midfielder Olivier Thomert.
