West Brom have rejected an £8.5 million offer from Portsmouth for Curtis Davies.
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has officially entered the race to sign West Brom defender Curtis Davies.
Redknapp is rumoured to have offered a club record £8.5 million for the talented 21-year-old, which Baggies boss Bryan Robson was quick to turn down.
Pompey's offer could price Arsenal out of the market for the former Luton stopper, with The Gunners thought to be unwilling to top £6.5 million.
Albion remain hopeful of holding onto Davies as they bid to make an instant return to the top-flight but may be unable to resist the spending power of Pompey.
Robson is keen to strengthen in all areas ahead of their Championship campaign next month and may cash in on the defender if a team tables an offer in the region of their £10 million asking price.
"We have received a substantial offer from Portsmouth but that has been rejected," Robson confirmed in the Daily Mail.
"Curtis is a highly-valued member of our squad and the board's stance reflects that."
