Thierry Henry has welcomed the signings of William Gallas and Julio Baptista.
Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has welcomed the deadline day signings of William Gallas and Julio Baptista.
Gallas arrived at The Emirates Stadium from Chelsea as part of a swap deal which saw Ashley Cole finally join the Premiership champions.
Baptista, meanwhile, arrived from Real Madrid, with the Brazil international initially joining on loan with a view to staying for four years.
Though Reyes left Arsenal for Real, Henry is delighted with the recruitment of versatile defender Gallas and the attack-minded Baptista.
Henry feels the new signings can help to offset the departures of Cole and Reyes, and the French striker has been lifted by the arrivals.
"I have known William for a long time," said Henry. "I've played with him and against him.
"In my opinion he's the best centre back in the world, so he's a vital signing.
"We've lost two strong players in Reyes and Cole, but football moves on and I think the players we have signed can help us to progress.
"Baptista can become a big player for us this season."
