Highly-rated French midfielder Loic Perrin has committed his future to St Etienne until 2010.
The Under 21 international has been out with knee ligament damage since March, but has been targeted by Arsenal in the past.
Despite the difficulties with his injury Les Verts worked hard to negotiate a long-term deal with Perrin, and the player could not be happier with the deal.
"I have always said my preference was to stay with ASSE," Perrin told the club's website.
"I am deeply attached and grateful to the directors for trusting me."
The talented youngster looks set to return to action around the start of the New Year, and he is anxious to continue his progress at the Stade Geoffrey-Guichard.
"My ambition is to be back in the starting line-up and to play lots of times to develop," Perrin added.
"When I watch the quality and record of the team, I can't wait to come back.
"All my family and friends live in St Etienne. It is my city and my club."
Les Verts currently occupy fifth spot in Ligue 1 and face Lille away in their next match on Sunday.
