Baptista still adapting

Julio Baptista admits he is still adapting to life in England.

The Brazilian is on a season-long loan at Emirates Stadium, after arriving in a deal which saw Jose Antonio Reyes move in the opposite direction to Real Madrid.

Baptista has started just two league games during his stint, but he is soon hoping to get the chance to prove himself fully.

"I am still in the process of adaptation to English soccer, which is very fast and very different from Spain," he told AS.

"I will achieve this by working hard."

The South America, known as The Beast, is though concerned that he is yet to be played in his best position by Arsene Wenger.

"My best position is the one I had in Seville, where I played like a second forward or as an attacking midfielder," he said.

"Here it is similar to where Van Persie is playing or on the left of a central three.

"Wenger says to me that he wants me to become accustomed to this league."

Baptista does not know whether he had done enough to earn a permanent deal yet.

"Until I play regularly I will not, the idea is to be involved as much as I can until the end of the season," he said.

"I value everything here and I will decide if the positive things outweigh the others.

"I do not just want to be one more player, I want to help and I can imagine playing here for several years.

"If I do not adapt, which is a possibility, it is therefore up to Madrid who would have to pay Arsenal ‚é¼20million, but I prefer to draw conclusions at the end of the season."
