Arturo Lupoli says he snubbed an extension at Arsenal in favour of joining Fiorentina.
Arturo Lupoli says he snubbed a contract extension at Arsenal in favour of joining Fiorentina in the summer.
The 19-year-old will link up with the Serie A club on a five-year deal when he concludes his season-long loan at Derby at the end of the campaign.
Lupoli has spent the past three years in England and had the chance to extend the stay, but opted for a return to Italy instead.
"Arsenal offered me an important contract extension but I didn't think about it," Lupoli told Gazzetta Dello Sport.
"I am already looking for a house in Florence."
Fiorentina were not the only Italian side chasing the young striker, with Lupoli claiming plenty of interest from Europe.
"Internazionale, Milan, Udinese, Napoli and Torino had shown an interest in me, so did Valencia," he said. "But in the end, I chose Fiorentina.
"Florence is a beautiful city, it is an ambitious club that points towards youth."
Lupoli came to the decision to return home six months ago but insists he has no regrets over his time in England.
He added: "Last summer I went with Arsenal to Austria and Arsene Wenger told me the need for me to play elsewhere on loan in order to have more playing time.
"I have adapted well to England but I have made a life choice and I couldn't say no to Fiorentina.
"It has been three important years. I have learned so much from champions like Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp."
