Gallas: Gunners won't be bullied

Frenchman wants Arsenal to be more ruthless

William Gallas insists Arsenal will adopt a more direct style this season. The Gunners finished 21 points behind Premier League champions Manchester United last term and Thierry Henry has since departed for Barcelona. Gallas believes Arsenal can still challenge for silverware, although he accepts that it will require a change in approach. The French defender wants to see his team-mates to still play with flair, but be more ruthless in front of goal. "When he (Henry) was at Arsenal we maybe did three or four passes in front of the goal, but now we have changed our tactics completely," Gallas told Sky Sports News. "Our football is different, but it will be good to watch."

Have to fight

Arsenal have developed a reputation for being vulnerable against teams that are more physical, and lost seven times away from home last season. However, Gallas has assured supporters that Arsenal will be more combative this time around. "We have to improve from last season," he admitted. "We made a lot of mistakes but I think this season will be different because we understand that sometimes we have to fight."
