Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal will be ready for Saturday's North London derby, despite the international break.

Manager says international break won't affect his team

Arsene Wenger believes his Arsenal team will be ready for the North London derby on Saturday, despite the interruption of the international break. The Gunners had many of their stars away on international duty last week but Wenger feels they can regain focus in time for Saturday's clash. "It's a big game, so players straight away know they have to be switched on," he said. Arsenal have started the season well and are unbeaten in the Premier League so far, but Wenger admitted the international break is a disturbance. "It's a big disturbance, this interruption, and all of the players have been under big pressure with their national teams. "But if you want to be a successful team, you have to deal with that and Tottenham have had the same problem with their players."

New deal

Saturday's game at White Hart Lane is Wenger's first since signing his new deal with the Gunners, but the Frenchman does not think his side will be boosted by the news that he is staying. "I do not expect a special lift because of that," he said. "It stops a few questions in the press conference, but does not change anything on a daily business. "We work as hard as before and as focused as before."
