Alisher Usmanov says he has invested in the 'world's best football club' and hopes his links with Arsenal will benefit Russian football.
The billionaire's Red and White Holdings group took its stake in The Gunners to 23 per cent last week, although Usmanov is not planning a takeover.
Instead, Usmanov is keen for his association with Arsenal to be a springboard for increasing the popularity of football in Russia.
Reflecting on Dinamo Moscow's game with Arsenal in 1945 as part of a tour of the UK, Usmanov is confident his interest in the Premier League club can only be positive.
"There's nothing wrong if Russian money is to be invested into the world's best football club," said Usmanov on Sky Sports News.
"Together we will be able to succeed and it will enable us, as Russians, to learn how to create a football team.
"What's wrong with that?
"As a shareholder, and as a fan, I'm going to enjoy it and I will share my experience if our relationship with the club lasts long enough.
"When Dinamo and Arsenal played a match in 1945, it helped double the popularity of football in this country. Maybe we'll live long enough to see it happen again."
