Robin van Persie will miss the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Villarreal through injury.

Gunners ace ruled out with groin injury but duo set to play

Arsenal forward Robin van Persie has been ruled out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg at Villarreal with a groin injury. Van Persie picked up the injury while away on international duty with Holland and subsequently missed the 2-0 win at home to Manchester City at the weekend. The blow is likely to be softened by the fact that fellow frontman Emmanuel Adebayor made a goalscoring return following his two-month absence with a hamstring injury against Mark Hughes' men. Better news for the Gunners meanwhile is that Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri have both been passed fit. Nasri was left out of the City game on Saturday as he was struggling with a virus but has recovered sufficiently to be considered for the trip to Spain. Walcott came through the clash at the weekend unscathed after he was left out of the England squad with a knee injury and is fit to face the Yellow Submarine. The first leg of the tie will take place on Tuesday with the return fixture following a week after on the Wednesday.
