David Villa would love to see Cesc Fabregas join Barca but is more concerned about keeping him quiet in midweek.

Barca striker dreams of midfielder moving to Camp Nou

David Villa would love to see Cesc Fabregas in a Barcelona shirt next season but is more concerned about keeping him quiet on Wednesday night. Both players were at the centre of transfer speculation last summer but, while Villa made the move from Valencia to Camp Nou, Fabregas stayed at Arsenal. The midfielder will now be looking to inspire the Gunners to victory over Barca in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League tie between the sides at Emirates Stadium. While Villa admits it would be great to line up alongside Fabregas for Barcelona next season, he recognises the threat his Spanish compatriot will pose in the eagerly-awaited European encounter. "Cesc Fabregas is a worldwide star," Villa told the Catalan media. "I am a lover of his game and I sincerely have belief in his presence at our club. "Cesc is a player able to succeed at any club in the world. I understand Arsenal's position but it would be sensational if he is with us for the next campaign. "We need to stop Cesc. At this moment he is thinking only about Arsenal and is looking to defeat us. He is a super professional."

Beautiful for spectators

However, Villa accepts that Arsenal have other danger men ahead of a clash that promises to be enjoyed across Europe considering the attacking philosophies of both clubs. "Cesc is not the only key for the Gunners. (Robin) Van Persie has rediscovered his level in attack and our defenders must be very focused," said Villa. "The key to this match will be containing Arsenal's attack and profiting from our own chances to score goals. "We need to score to increase our options for the second match." Barca boast a glittering array of talent and are firm favourites to progress over two legs but, while Villa is in confident mood, he is taking nothing for granted. "This tie will not be easy. Today Barcelona and Arsenal play the best game in Europe because it will be beautiful for the spectator. "My dream is to win the Champions League. The media makes us favourites but footballers can only think from match to match."
