Mikel Arteta has admitted that Arsenal's failure to claim a win in their opening two games is "not good enough".
The Spaniard was instrumental in the Gunners' midfield against a Stoke outfit who proved impossible to crack as the sides played out a 0-0 draw at the Britannia Stadium.
That result mirrors Arsenal's opening fixture against Sunderland, and with top scorer Robin van Persie exiting the Emirates for Manchester United, Arteta has called for the club to step up if they are to compete for the Premier League title.
"It's not good enough. We need to get the three points in every game if we want to win the league, that's what we're here for," he told Sky Sports.
"At the moment we're not doing it, but I think we can take some positives and hopefully we can build on these results."
He went on: "We wanted the three points, we know that this is always a tough place to come and get the points.
"In the first half I think we had much more creativity and we had some really good chances, at the moment we are not taking them, it happened the same thing last week and that's what happens when you don't score.
"The team looks very organised, we're conceding very few chances to the opposition. In the last two games as well, but for me we lost two points again."
