Myhre recently had a spell on loan at Tranmere Rovers, but was recalled by Toffees boss Smith due to a goalkeeping injury crisis at Goodison Park.
The Norwegian was an ever-present throughout January, but was criticised for his performance in the 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough on the last day of the month.
Smith recalled Paul Gerrard from his injury lay-off to play against The Red Devils, and Myhre now believes that he has little future on Merseyside.
"This weekend we played Manchester United but, unfortunately, I did not play in the game," Myhre revealed.
"I knew I had to deliver when I got my chance, and I had a hunch that I would be dropped for this game.
"I got my chance when Paul Gerrard got injured," he added. "But it didn't go as well as I had hoped and I made a few mistakes. But I never dreamt that I would be dropped from the bench as well.
"Gerrard started the game, while Steve Simonsen was reserve keeper for this game.
"Walter Smith has not told me why I had to watch the game from the stand."
Recalling his performance against Boro, Myhre added: "I didn`t play well, but I believe I would have lost my place anyway.
"Gerrard is clearly the first-choice keeper here. My future at Everton is very much in doubt now."
