The former Tranmere Rovers ace has represented England at Under-21 level, but it has been some time since he last featured on the international stage.
The 22-year-old has finally established himself at Goodison Park in the last month after three seasons on the sidelines since his move from Tranmere.
Simonsen has played in the last four games for Everton and he has impressed keeping three clean sheets.
His performances have fuelled speculation that he could win a possible call-up to the senior England squad, but Simonsen also qualifies for Denmark through ancestry and he is eligible to play for either country until he plays a full international.
The highly-rated shot-stopper admitted that he would have England as his first choice, but that he would think about playing for Denmark if all else failed.
"Obviously, my first love is for England, but if I wasn't given a chance here then I'd certainly consider representing Denmark," he admitted.
