Mendez has been linked with English duo Everton and Aston Villa along with Argentinian outfit Independiente.
The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive World Cup for Ecuador and scored the solitary goal in the debutants' victory over Croatia.
He currently plays for Deportivo Quito in his homeland and his coach is confident he can cut the mustard at a higher level.
"Mendez is an excellent player that could play in any of those leagues," said Pedro Marchetta.
"He could even transform himself into the idol of the supporters because he is a player with great quality.
"Mendez is one of the most important players in our team and has excellent conditions for having success in any league in the world but I think that he could be better in England or Argentina because of the kind of football that is played in those countries.
"I think that if Mendez goes to Argentina to Independiente, he could even be an idol at Boca Juniors and River Plate and if he goes to England he could even play at Manchester United.
"I hope that the transfer could be done because he is one of the best players in Ecuador and because he deserves something like that."
