The Toffees have had severe injury problems with their goalkeepers this season with both Richard Wright and Steve Simonsen having spells on the sidelines.
Goodison Park boss David Moyes has had good reports about the Albion Rovers keeper Shearer and is ready to invite him to Merseyside to take a closer look.
The 21-year-old has already impressed clubs in England and had a trial with Oldham last season and has also trained with Bolton Wanderers this term.
The youngster will now be looking to impress Moyes in the chance to earn a dream move from Scotland's Division Three to The Premiership.
Good injury news for Everton comes from Duncan Ferguson who will resume training after an ankle injury caused him to miss the club's last reserve game.
The giant Scot is now desperately trying to get enough games under his belt in a bid to make a return to the first team.
